Meet the Maker
I'm Nick Owen — a Kiwi bloke with a garage in Mt Roskill, Auckland, and a relentless pursuit of perfection.
Teak & Timber Co isn't a factory or a production line. It's just me, a workshop full of beautiful timber, and long hours spent getting every cut, every glue-up, and every finish exactly right. I discovered a passion for working with exceptional hardwoods — teak, walnut, oak, padauk, purpleheart — and turned that passion into something real: one board at a time, out of my own garage.
Every board that leaves this workshop is the result of hard-won skills and an uncompromising belief that if something is worth making, it's worth making properly.
"I pour everything into every single board. When someone picks one up, I want them to feel that — the weight of the craft, the warmth of the timber, and the pride of owning something truly unique." — Nick Owen, Mt Roskill, New Zealand

Our Craftsmanship Journey
Every Teak & Timber board starts as rough-sawn hardwood, hand-selected for grain, colour, and character. From there it's cut, arranged, glued, flattened, and sanded through ever-finer grits until the surface feels like glass — then finished with food-grade mineral oil to protect the timber and bring the grain to life.
Most of our boards are end grain — the traditional butcher's block construction where the wood fibres stand vertically. It's slower and far more demanding to make, but the payoff is real: the surface is gentler on knife edges, hides cuts, and lasts for decades.
The timbers tell their own story: golden plantation teak, rich American black walnut, dense white oak, fiery padauk, and naturally violet purpleheart. No stains, no dyes, no shortcuts — every colour you see is exactly how the tree grew it.
